Head of Finance (m/f/x)

We are looking for a results-driven Head of Finance (m/f/x) to support the leadership of our Finance Team in a wide range of topics. In this role, you will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of the finance department. You will be the main contact person for all stakeholders, such as shareholders, banks, tax advisors, auditors and the management, ensuring that all recurring and ad-hoc requirements are met. Your strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask will be essential to ensure smooth operations. In addition, you will lead a team and collaborate with internal stakeholders from other departments to ensure smooth finance processes and drive internal initiatives.

Your tasks

  • Take ownership of all financial planning and controlling processes, such as analysis of business performance, financial statements, and KPIs on an ongoing basis for internal purposes and any reporting to external stakeholders

  • Supervise the cash flow planning and robust liquidity controls to monitor the cash development regularly, in close collaboration with operative teams

  • Lead the team in annual budgeting and running forecast rounds: develop near-term and long-term financial plans, monitor budget implementation, and maintain the forecast accordingly

  • Act as a sparring partner for the external accounting team preparing the monthly bookkeeping and monthly closing process

  • Support business units with data-driven insights and controls in the core decision-making process

  • Drive fundraising activities in collaboration with the management team

  • Steer the preparation of annual reports and financial audit by liaising with the external firms involved

Your profile

  • 10+ years of finance & accounting or equivalent work experience, whereas 3+ years of experience as Head of Finance or similar role

  • Degree in business administration/ accounting/ taxation or similar with a focus on Controlling/Finance/Accounting

  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve departmental goals but also support them in their professional growth and skill development setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, and recognising achievements

  • Organisational and time management skills, with a keen eye for details

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick and pragmatic decisions under pressure

  • Strong communication skills, critical and cross-departmental thinking 

  • Advanced skills in Google Sheets/MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and preferably experience in utilizing DATEV

  • Fluency in English is mandatory, fluency in German is considered as strong plus

  • Berlin-based candidates preferred, otherwise relocation is required. Partial remote work is possible

  • Startup and E-Commerce experience as a plus
